Whale chomps off a leg, then spits out the inedible shoe with foot unintentionally attached.

A buddy at work did a lot of beachcombing in his younger days. He maintains that each beach is either a left-footed beach or a right-footed beach. He would always find shoes washed up (no feet with them in those days) but it would drive him nuts - all the shoes would either be left or right depending on the beach so he could never scrounge footwear...
VICTORIA — The B.C. Coroner's Service said this afternoon that a sixth severed foot found yesterday in Campbell River is a hoax.
A forensic pathologist and anthropologist examined the shoe and remains and concluded it was not a human foot inside the size 10 Addidas runners located on the shore yesterday on the Tyee Spit.
"The bone protruding out was actually a skeletonized animal paw inserted into the shoe with a sock and packed with dried seaweed."
The coroner's service said "this type of hoax is represensible and very disrespectful to the families of missing persons."
The discounting of the sixth foot brings the number of severed feet found off B.C.'s coast to five.
The first was discovered a year ago off Jedidiah Island off the Strait of Georgia. The most recent foot found was in the Vancouver suburb of Ladner.
They're just trying to keep down the panic. It was actually an alien foot.
