Question about citizenship and abandoned babies

No I am not abandoning any babies, just an odd question which occured to me.

If a baby is abandoned and finds it's way into the stewardship of the state, how is citizenship decided? How do they decide if it becomes a U.S. citizen?

What do they do about a social security card and birth certificate?

the state takes care , its auto granted in most states by the state agency who does childrens welfare

on US federal land its either the military or the dep of justice , if abroad its state

it can be by courtorder or not , some states have these laws in place

if you need help find a good lawyer

So what is the abandoned child is say, 4 and they are unable to determine the country of origin or their parents?

I do not need help heh, this has NOTHING to do with me, just an odd question that poped up as I was driving to work.

an investigation is launched , the child is placed in protective custody with the agency that is local

it does not matter , till the legal age its the same for all ' children ' , if the person is considered weak or ill the legal age can be up to 21 without any problems

see the site of cal on more info , they have some new laws now since loads of central american children where dumped in order to get them citizenship and reclaim them later

unfortunatly yes , more and more , ....

states like georgia , west virginia , south carolina , just a few months ago in south carolina 2 children where left on the street age 6 and 10 with a letter that the parents could no longer take care of them , ....

the red cross does help a lot also now
