THE reputation of Princess Diana's former butler Paul Burrell has sunk to a new low after reports he boasted of sleeping with her.
Mr Burrell apparently made the shock confession to his wife's brother, Ron Cosgrove.
Mr Cosgrove, 61, told Britain's News of the World: "In 1993, while Paul was working for the princess at Kensington Palace, he suddenly told me he'd been having a sexual relationship with her."
Mr Burrell went into detail about the affair and even claimed he was on call as the princess's lover.
"Paul told me that he'd get a call from Diana in the middle of the night specifically to have sex with her," Mr Cosgrove said.
"I told him if it was true, I was disgusted because he was married to my sister and cheating on her.
"He didn't see that as a problem. He just replied, 'Yes, but it is the princess'. He boasted they were in love."
Mr Burrell is despised in the UK for shamelessly cashing in on his association with the princess, building up an estimated $50 million fortune.
In other royal news, Princess Eugenie has been reprimanded by her school for frolicking naked in the grounds.
The 18-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson cavorted with friends late at night at exclusive Marlborough College in Wiltshire.
No boys were present, but insiders say alcohol was involved.

Brazen Paul Burrell peddles ‘Diana’ jewellery in US
Just as it seemed as if we had seen the last of Paul Burrell, the former butler to Princess Diana, up he pops on an American shopping channel to hawk designer jewellery he claims is a tribute to Diana.
Burrell, who turned 50 this month, spent an hour talking to presenters on the channel about his Effy Signature range.
It follows other stunts such as a tacky range of Royal Butler merchandise, two “tell-all” books and hosting a TV show called American Princess to find the “new Diana”.
The man who claims Diana called him her “rock” is now brazen enough to set himself up as a jeweller selling “rocks” supposedly similar to those favoured by the princess.
Burrell smiled as diamond-encrusted rings, pendants and bracelets were shown before the camera. Some were offered to viewers of ShopNBC at an “intro price” claimed to be half their retail value. The former butler told his fellow presenters: “This eclectic mix of styles all come together in this collection to represent those 21 years I spent with the royal family.” He added: “My range will stay true to her. Understated but beautiful and eye-catching.”
He also joked with his hosts on the show about his time with the royals. He said of his role as a butler: “It did have its perks. I did get to open that safe sometimes and see some spectacular jewels.”
Burrell, who was acquitted in 2002 of stealing Diana’s possessions, claimed in his book A Royal Duty that he knew a secret about Diana that he “would never reveal”.
But when he appeared as a witness at the inquest into her death this year the coroner dismissed notions that Burrell knew any such secret. It was later claimed that Burrell admitted on tape that he had not told “the whole truth” during the hearing. He decamped to the US, where he is now a minor celebrity. Scotland Yard announced last month that there was insufficient evidence to charge him with perjury.
