E7200 is a better CPU for not much more. It's a 45nm part, faster clock speed, more L2 cache. $132 at Newegg. Definitely worth the $8 extra on it's own.

You'd probably need a different MB for it though. The manufacturer's website doesn't list any 45nm CPUs as compatible.

8600GT isn't worth buying I don't think. (Though what "competent for most games" means can vary quite a bit...) This 9600 GSO looks like the best $84 card at newegg right now. ($84 after $20 MIR though.)

The only other card ~under $100 that seems like a useful buy is the ATI HD 3850, which can be had for $99 after MIR. (Maybe a 8800 GS, but I don't know anything about them.)

The PSU with the case is probably not a very good PSU ... but how long do you plan on sleeping with this girl anyway You will pay more to get a separate PSU but it is generally worth it, in the long run.

The 8800GS is about 25% weaker than an 8800GT, but it's quite a bit cheaper so I'd say go for it.
