  • Obama cinches it.

As of this morning, Obama has enough delegates to secure the nomination, going by pledged delegates, polled results in the remaining primary contests, and pledged superdelegates.

    Delegates - 1660
    Superdelegates - 324
Remaining delegates he will get per current polls - 41

Total - 2025, which is the number you need to get the nomination.

From here on out it's just coasting. All he has to do is not screw up - whereas Clinton would have to get a significant number of delegates to change their support from Obama to her to have any chance at all.

Isn't it tomorrow that the Rules Committee meets to decide the fates for Florida and Michigan? It's Clinton's last stand. I'd pay to be a fly in the wall there.

I'm not sure if English is your first language, Oerdin, but to clinch is to mean it's mathematically impossible for him not to make it.

        Obama did not clinch it.

Stop lying in your thread titles.

            The part where
            1660 + 324 = 1984
            1984 != 2025

Well, he's only at 1984. 1984 + 41 does put him over the top, at 2025, but those 41 are still currently hypothetical.

I mean, polling isn't quite an exact science, after all.

This has been over but for the crying for some time now, but he's not to 2025 yet. You can can't use poll data to assign delegates. Just wait for it to happen. It will.

As for FL & MI... I find Hillary's stance hypocritical in the extreme, and I'm surprised that anyone would buy it - even her supporters. If the situation were reversed, I'd be pissed as hell at Obama for taking such a stance.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

Still ain't clinched, even if it's 99.9999999999999999% likely to happen.

You really worked hard to put the word 'rear' in that post

Cinch is a partial synonym for clinch meaning to make sure of. I don't know how to put this is a language you understand, you have just been demolished. SELF GOALED!

I'll have to agree with Asher, even if we are being a bit pedantic.
