    Robert Asprin Dies at 61

Atlanta, GA 5/23/2008 03:02 PM GMT (FINDITT)

Author Robert Asprin died in his New Orleans home on Thursday at the age of 61. No cause of death has been announced.

“Bob passed away quietly in his home in New Orleans, LA. He has been in good spirits and working on several projects, and was set to be the Guest of Honor at a major science fiction convention that very week,” said his family in a statement.

Asprin is best know for his fantasy novels including ‘Myth Adventures of Aahz and Skeeve.’ He also co-wrote the ‘Time Scout’ novels with Linda Evans.

Asprin is survived by his mother, sister, daughter, and his son.

Yeah, I saw this yesterday...at least it sounded like he had a few good years toward the end after a miserable decade-plus. His writing was even starting to recover a bit.

I literally read the early Myth books until the covers fell off when I was a kid.

Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Besides the MythAdventures, I also enjoyed the Thieves' World books.

Oi... First Robert Jordan, now Robert Asprin... Hopefully George RR Martin can make it through at least 2 more books

Hopefully this means more good new fantasy authors will be published.

A pity. I really enjoyed the MYTH Adventure Series and was glad to see the recent restart after a long dryspell...
