I'm waiting and welcome our overlords to make all decisions for me.
I think some of this is already past but some of this is still going on, so I'm not sure if we shoudl call these trends, but for some technology is still sort of being developed and tested for and soon fully implemented. I think we could expand the idea of a smart home into smart life. Because that's what we want, someone to make the optimal decisions for us so we can just sit back and do the right things and not be bothered.
So now with all the portal stuff, you want all kinds of new services, it's not just about new content, it's more about creating an alternative for the home computer that you take with you and the difference is supposed to be smaller screen size, that's where you want to go with it ultimately. With your home computer, you want to basically create nagivation and services that basically lets you have everything right there and then without much delay, meaning that you integrate your computer more into the internet rather than it being a client in order to gain more of everything, make everything more transparent.
So that' sthe key word, more transparent, technology, services and life.
There's all kinds of algorithms to suggest the things you might like and what you should be looking for, they're getting better and better all the time as well as semantic data mining, to get the meaning of things out of the mass of text and stuff. There's been attempts to create services for your portable devices that tracks you all the time and so can suggest you stuff like hey, a shop you like 100 meters to the left or a person who is also looking for a date and you are a match, coming right at you. However, not possible yet due to limitations in technology and software, but coming up. There's all kinds of ways to have social networks and stuff.
So how about life control? Using behaviometrics, measuring how you type, your logic of application use and everything, working essentially as a software alternative to biometrics, identifying users accurately, I think we should add some more to it. How about we develop software that tries to identify your mood, based on what you're browsing, looking at, how you're typing, all kinds of factors to be measured. If you can have it voice controlled, you could measure the frequency, pitch... you could basically decide your stress level possibly, or you could just have a control application that asks you a spesific set of questions so then it knows all it needs to know about you that given day or moment and just gives you what you want but don't know or can't be bothered to find out?
So you're feeling a bit tired, perhaps sick. Gret, so let's give you a light comedy here playing, suggest you go to the sofa and watch this movie that starts right now, your milk is already warming up so you better get it. No you don't have cookies anymore, but we just ordered you more and charged for it already, should arrive in 15 minutes. Lights dim down, maybe you should go to sleep now, you have to work early tomorrow and we all know you need to be sleeping now so sonic beams and hypnotic messages, suggesting you will wake up early and happy.
Now here's where it gets funny, when you hack that system. Yes, a you are feeling horny, a woman who wants you lives in the apartment soon on your right. The woman also gets a message, you should have sex with this man. Since no one questions it anymore because it makes the best decisions anyway, you should just follow the program and go along with it.
All kinds of stuff, it could even decide when you should die and just sort of feed you poison. I don't know. You tell me.
