    Aren't Tim Horton franchises?

If so, it has nothing to do with Tim Horton co. but the owner.

And no one NEEDS to work at Tim Hortons...Lets face it, if you work there, its because you couldn't find anything else at the moment or you just didn't bother to look elsewhere.Shes probably on crack. No one wants to have a career at Tim Hortons and wear that awful outfit everyday...Even Angelina Jolie would make me vomit n a Tim Horton outfit.

Maybe you missed the part about her WORKING to support her family.
I didn't realize your fast food joints were 100K a year jobs. If you wish to argue she is not a complete ****** for having four kids while single and that doing so was not a disserive to her children feel free, I will try not and laugh.

I assume that if she had a sob story the article would have included it.

You assume that she was always single and didn't have a husband in the military who divorced her when she turned 25.

                I addressed that.

And your manufactured sob story is turgid, the military bit adds no extra sob. Though I will happily retract all accusations of irresponsibility if circumstances support your more giving her the benefit of the doubt.

I take it that Tim Hortons is the Anglo-Canadian equivalent of Krispy Kreme?

Not even close -- Tim Horton's is far more pervasive in Canadian culture than Krispy Kreme is in American culture...

Wezil is only slightly exaggerating when he says we have them every few blocks. And not just downtown.

There are over 2,733 Tim Hortons in Canada (twice that of McDonald's) with over 70,000 employees. It has 76% of the baked goods market in Canada and 62% of the coffee market (Starbucks is at #2 with 7%).

Krispy Kreme has 4250 employees globally...who knows how many stores. They got 6 in Canada.

Ms. Lilliman will now work at another Tim Hortons store, just down the street from where she's been employed for the past three years.

"She has chosen to go to a different location, just down the street, which is owned by the same franchisee in case she was uncomfortable returning to her current store," Ms. Douglas said.

No decision has been made in regards to taking action against the manager who fired Ms. Lilliman, Ms. Douglas added.

"It was an unfortunate incident where a manager acted a bit overzealously. The actions of that manager were not appropriate, nor were they grounds for dismissal."

As for the need for a nationwide policy on Timbit freebies, Ms. Douglas said that's yet to be determined. She does point out that, currently, store owners set their own policies and run "their businesses as they choose."

On Wednesday. Ms. Lilliman said she had acted out of the goodness of her heart.

"I have been fired for giving a baby a Timbit," she said.

"It was just out of my heart — she was pointing and going 'ah, ah. . .' I should have gone to my purse and got the change, but it was busy."

Ms. Lilliman, who has worked at the store for three years, said she thought little of the incident since Timbits are often doled out to dogs and children.

She said the baby was about 11 months old, and she gave her the treat to quiet her, since her mother — a Tims' regular — had been "having a bad day."

"I could see [the dismissal] if it was a sandwich or something," she said. "But it was a Timbit."

She'd forgotten about the Monday-morning incident until she was called into the office Wednesday.

Three managers greeted her, saying she had been caught on video, giving free food to a child.

"They said, 'Remember, Monday you gave out a free Timbit,' " she said. "I had to think, then I was like, 'Oh yeah,' and I smiled because I thought I'd get a warning."

Instead, she was fired for theft.

Giving food away free is against the rules, said Tim Hortons district manager Nicole Mitchell.

"Employees aren't allowed to give out free products and that's the bottom line," she said. "She gave out free product and it doesn't matter if it is a Timbit or a coffee or a doughnut or 10 sandwiches or what."

The Timbits given to pets, Ms. Mitchell added, are usually "day-old and recycled."

Please point out where I said anythind derrogatory about the service industry.

                                Any luck? No?

Again, given here economic prospects as the type of service employee she is (way to be a presumptious ****er to assume all serive employees have low economic prospects) it was hardly a smart or charitable decision to bring four children into this world.

And being this is a "look at evil corporations stomping on the little people" thread, if there was some sob story about why she has four children when obviously having little prospect to provide for them adequately we would have heard about it.

The critisism has to do with the ability to provide for children, let alone four. Whatever think about my job it pays X, and thus alows me to support Y.
