Lets laugh at Oerdin as he doesn't get the obvious sarcasm!

Sure they must be pissed off, but it's still not legal to do that. If I'm pissed off, I can't just go and beat up people. Neither should anyone else.

Is it just me, but I think it's always more serious when a cop does this instead of a normal citizen? I mean because of their role, they're supposed to be respected and they represent an authority, thus even less **** should be accepted. I don't know but that's what I've been taught always, "remember, you're now part of X, so you represent us". As in be careful.

Anyways.... I mean I expect to be beaten up if I shoot a cop. But it's still shouldn't be legal and it isn't so when you get caught, too bad. Same law should apply to all of us.

Rest assured, Pekka. I believe chages against the cops will be forth coming.

and I bet you they will not be punished in the same way as 'ordinary' citizens (= effective jail time).

Well, that depends on what the charges are.

I can see Disorderly Conduct and Battery charges, both of which carry max jail time of less than a year. Plus, even if they were to get charged with both, the DC would probably be "Dismissed and read in." Meaning that they won't get convicted of the charge, but it will have an effect on the outcome of the other.

                  "Dismissed and read in"?

                  Can you explain this further?

And let's face it, jailtime or no jailtime, these "victims" will be raking in piles of cash after their civil lawyers are through with this. I'd love to be in their shoes right now, unless they're getting convicted for the cop-shooting that is.

Note that I wasn't commenting on the "victims" though. I don't know enough about that aspect of the story.

Presumably because of the reast of the paragraph.

'Dissmissed and read in' means the Prosecution makes a deal with the defense that the charge will get dissmised (and therefore not prosecuted) but will still work something like a charge enhancer (common enhancers are like DA (Domestic Abuse) and Repeater (repeat offender).

Hmmm. Strange from a fundamental justice point of view.

                              Thanks.
