Darius, your ability to find smutty innuendos from a straight-faced post is frankly amazing.

I don't know if it's amazing in the "Wow, that's pretty neat!" sort of way. Or possibly the "Crap, um, I'm going to, sort of, leave now..."

We did some typing in grade-school. Until then I didn't spend much time on it until highschool using Mavis Beacon's typing program to learn the keyboard layout. So my touch-typing abilities are moderate. I generally only do it when watching to TV and don't want to miss something. Of course, I touch hand-write too. This was developed by furious notetaking, especially since I would take copious notes with little shorthand. And since my normal handwriting is so bad, there really isn't much difference.

I've been using Dvorak for about a month now and I'm still slower than Qwerty by far. However, Dvorak is far superior to Qwerty in its layout. I have to switch occasionally back to Qwerty, and when I do, I'm amazed at how many unnatural contortions I have to do to get my fingers to type normal words.

I think the speed will come with time. But the most important thing for me is that my wristaches and mild carpal tunnelling has receded.

And now a few innuendo words so that Darius can quote this post: wet used rigid pineapple snug fit tongue cherry rod Microsoft kumquat knoblauch petal salty pubes.

Never took a class, but I can touch type and at peak speed I can get up to 140 wpm on QWERTY.

I have yet to make the jump to Dvorak.

                      I can touch type.

I learned in a "Personal Typing" class in high school.

As opposed to communal typing? Everyone pick a letter?

I bash away with 3 to 6 fingers (I'm quite a bit over the magic age of 40) but I prefer to use Dragon when I can.

I've never takin' a typing course and do fairly well. I can definitely type quicker than I can write. I don't need to look at the screen or at the keyboard to know what I am writing. I don't know how many words I can type a minute though, and I don't really care. I learned typing by doing. I had to type for school and then work, and shortly there after to post here. In fact, I think had I never started posting here my typing would be much worse.

It's weird, I never used to have a problem hitting the "y" key in Qwerty. Now I find hitting the "f" key in Dvorak really hard. It's the same key!
