Clifford O. Brown
84 years old.
Crochity old WWII vet. Served in the USMC M Co, 3rd Bat, 24th Reg, 4th Marine Division from Feb 3rd, 1943 to Oct 19th, 1945.
Saw action against the enemy on four different occasions:
31 Jan- 8 Feb 1944 Battle of the Marshall Islands (1-2 Feb: Roi-Namur).
15 June- 9 July 1944 Battle of Saipan.
Awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his actions during this battle.
24 July- 1 Aug 1944 Battle of Tinian.
19 Feb- 16 Mar 1945 Battle of Iwo Jima.
Awarded the Purple Heart.
He reenlisted in the Army and was stationed in Japan. Later stationed at Ft. Riley as a Drill Instructor. Honorably discharged on 23 Jan 1950 only to serve in the Wisconsin National Guard until his retirement from the US military.
I guess this is probably where my patriotism started.
I am very proud of my grandpa. He did alot for my country and our way of life.
I'm off now to go get re-sized for my class A Army uniform (I have been out of the Army now for 4 years and the thing is a little tight!) so I can show proper respects to my fallen hero.
(we need a salute smilie!!)
