  • At long last Dolores's cousin and my friend got their paperwork oked by Homeland Sec

    ...urity.

It got rejected 3 or 4 times but this last time I was here to set all straight and so I think the next step is the packet goes to Manila where it gets lost behind the water cooler there!

Poor guy is tearing his hair he misses his honey so much.

So my good pal and Dolores's cousin, Lucina, are approved!

Lucina is great, very patient and gentle spirit.

Dolores is happy as a clam, the first cousin we've been able to help.

Is this the girl you talked about some years ago, the girl with the unknown American father? If so, then
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
    Once again...

      Great News Lancer

In other news, Hostile relations between the U S and Canada have for the moment ceased as Mayor Ming of Mingapulco signed a work visa for Argonaut fan Asher to come and go.

However, Ming has assigned a security detail to shadow this "Possible threat to homeland security in and around Mingapulco.."

Asher's Touque, however, had to remain in quarantine

Now, back to your regularly sheduled (Best Canadian announciation) thread

Oh, Ming, which Welcome Wagon Poster was i supposed to fly?

      Asher already picked his out

Hueij, nope, this is another good person however. She's turned 40 so she had no hope in the Phils but now she'll have a shot at good life.

I didnt know if it is a temporary or does it have a maximum status length on the visa?

Congrats to your friends! If they haven't yet, they may want to take a look at asawa.org, which has a whole bunch on information about immigration and cross-cultural US/Filipina marriages; it used to have a pretty lively forum, with one whole board devoted to the visa process and the Manila embassy, but they seem to have taken that down (though the into page still refers to it; maybe I just missed it).

Anyway, hope it continues to go smoothly.

Sounds like she's applying for a K-1 fiancee visa, which requires her to marry the fiancee who petitioned her withing 90 days of entering the US; she's then required to stay until she gets her green card (which can be a while; K-1s go to the end of the green card line), though she can leave if she gets the permission of Immigration.

That's what they're doing. She won't be going home to the Phils for a while, that's certain. She'll be working with her husband to be to get their heads back above water. That's ok, they're both up to it. She''ll make a really good American.

A couple years ago I told my friend about her while we were both working in the same place. He worked and saved and made the trip to meet her. They both hit it off wonderfully right off the bat. Dolores and I knew they were meant to be together right from the beginning. Soon he'll have a wife that will be at his side come any challenge, a worthy partner. She is thrilled with him and misses him so much. Through this process and the time apart it is largely her strength that supported him while he dealt with Homeland Security and had his paperwork rejected repeatedly and all the frustration that came with it. He's not good at paperwork. Still, he persisted and now it's just a matter of time. Soon she will have her interview at the embassy in Manila. Man oh man. What a journey. Also she will live close to us here in Oregon and be company for Dolores. Her husband to be is a regular at our place and is a good man that I'm pleased to call my friend.

                          So, it's almost over.

Thanks to everyone here for your good wishes. I'll show this thread to the happy couple.

But how did the story I referred to play out? Did she end up in the US (or Canada, I forgot)?

Good to know there is another story with a happy end though... Too few of them nowadays
