  • Global Food Prices

Most of the world lives off less than 5USD a day. We see in Haiti, Mexico, India, Eygpt and very large swaths of Africa, the begining of serouis social unrest.

The problem isnt too bad now (40% Rise in Prices) but the projected cost of Rice, Corn and Cereal is going to continue going up. We now see nations halting exports and buying up available stocks which will make the problem even worse.

    We have it pretty easy.

Personally a trip to the store is costing me about 80.00$ more a week from last year. The Dollar Decline is making things a bit more expensive, However, for the first time in my adult life, My employer is hiring people and paying much much better due to the cost of living. People had been saying "I cant live off that, sorry" and walked out like they didnt want the job. And positions were going empty for ever until Recently.

Its also kind of unrelated but worth a mention. Several local Militia's have formed and have begun spreading phamplets around the city telling the police they are going to patrol the streets against thieves. The problem of theft is getting out of hand here.

How has the Global cost of food and fuel affected you?

What do you think will happen if food prices (as projected) Rise further and further out of reach of the 3rd world?

Wasn't there a thread on this already?

Oh, and since you're dead why do you care about food?

$80 more a week! I spend about $80 every two weeks at the store. Though I do eat out a bit.
