No. If they feel guilty enough they turn themselves in. But I think he's a sociopath mostly because he killed his own grandmother for such a stupid reason. I don't think spoiling a kid makes them do that.

No solid data, but considering that murder rates go up significantly in urban areas, it can be reasonably extrapolated that homicide rates were lower when most of humanity was rural.

Errr....that's the worst extrapolation I've ever heard.

Actual estimates of the murder/warfare death rate among neolithic cultures (as rural as you can get) are astronomical. Thousands of times higher than today's.

StatsCan for 2004 only has Winnipeg, Vancouver and Edmonton above national average for homicides. All other major cities are below national average.

Also, note that an unusually high number of homicides are commited by Natives, which somewhat skews the data for rural areas.

It's a generally accepted fact that rural areas have higher homicide rates in Can than urban areas. I've read multiple academic papers discussing the contrast between the US&CAN on this point.

The data is sort of sketchy prior to the early 20th century, but AFAIK it's been pretty accepted for a decade that most historical societies had huge homicide rates relative to ours.
