I wondered what the kerfuffle was about.

A private aircraft has crashed into homes in Farnborough, Kent, the Metropolitan Police has said.

Scotland Yard said the plane came down at about 1430BST and police were on the scene with fire and ambulance services.

    Aircraft Crashes Into Kent Homes

A small plane has crashed into homes in Kent, leading to grave fears for residents and six people believed to be on board the aircraft.

An eye witness described seeing a "big ball of fire" and plumes of smoke at the crash site.

"There was a massive hole in the roof of the house, you can see where it went through," said Karl Mills, who saw the incident.

The private Cessna aircraft hit Broadwater Gardens, a residential area in Farnborough.

A pilot who was flying a four-seater aircraft just ahead of the one that crashed said he heard the plane make a mayday call.

"I was on final approach about 30 seconds from touchdown, and I heard the pilot in the other plane declare mayday.

"They were experiencing some aircraft vibration in the engines."

"Biggin Hill Tower acknowledged the mayday and the pilot reported five people on board.

"As I turned off the runway, I looked back and saw the plane nosedive.

"The radio went dead and all the black smoke came up."

Local resident John Waite said: "I was sitting in the garden and I had this very loud engine noise, it sounded like an aeroplane during manoeuvres at an airshow.

    "Obviously it wasn't that.

"I just worry for the people on board the aircraft and people in their homes."

Sky correspondent Martin Brunt said: "There are a number of houses on fire".

"A huge mobilisation of the emergency services has begun.

"It is unlikely that any of those six on board would have stood much chance of surviving.

"And there is concern about people who would have been at home or in their garden.

"There is real concern that quite a number of casualties are likely to emerge from this."
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

I bet it was something pathetic like a Cessna that probably bounced off the roof

Daylight savings time is likely to blame. Every time we change there's an increase in accidents, miscommunications and the general level of confusion.

Yeah, thinking it was 1330 made the difference. Who can function with all that confusion? Certainly, the landing gear couldn't handle it.

I knew you'd understand. It's like small doses of Y2K terror twice a year. Well four times, if you include both sides of the Atlantic.

Can't seem to detect any remains of the plane that supposedly crashed into the house...

Someone should check on the whereabouts of those Canadian engineering CEOs from the other thread.

Did you hear that there was a plane crash into a graveyard in Ireland? So far they've found thousands of bodies
