  • Well, ****.

    Quick question.

Did Civ4/Civ4:Warlords/Civ4:BTS come with a CD Key? I wiped the machine and reinstalled Windows, and now I'm looking for the manual.

Which I think I threw out when I moved.

    So, yeah, ****.

Well, it looks like disaster has been avoided. It's installing and hasn't asked me for a CD key yet.

You can't ask that! I know you can't. I got my ass burned over similar. For some reason Dan gets freaked out. Not that there's anything wrong with Dan. A little paranoid, maybe. Hey, we all have problems. His is paranoia.

I don't want a CD Key, I just couldn't remember if it had one.

Which made me very sad, because I wants to play the game.

I'm remembering now, though that BTS's copy-protection scheme would crash the game before I could play it, and would occasionally take my computer with it. Hope one of the patches fixes that.

Don't ask about a No CD crack. That in particular was the cause of my demise.

Good to know. BTS is installing, so that's a good sign. So, yes. Crisis averted.

DO NOT ask for a CD key!
Here is an interesting scenario to check out. The Vietnam war is cool.

Christ, how many times do I have to say I'm not?

Did you not read my first post? Or my second?

I was *****ing that perhaps it required one, at which point I'd have to say, "****."

But it doesn't, because it's installed, and while I couldn't get BTS to run (it's the copy-protection again), vanilla Civ4 did.

Why does BTS crash your ****? Try updating CD drivers this fixed my problem with this. Though it may have been psychosomatic, since in every clinical trial I have ever been in I have always reported the placebo to be overwhelmingly effective.

I was just being sarcastic about how people immediately freak out when the term 'cd key' is even mentioned by anyone. It's like the lifers on these sites are programmed to freak out automatically. If people were intelligent they would help out instead of freak out. The cd protection is a pain only for innocent people who buy games and does nothing to stop crackers who remove the evil code from the game to avoid the hassle.
