The 3am statement or the statement that Obama would not be doing as well if he were not Black?

            Edwards would beg to differ.

What's nonsense about this whole thing is pretending that his opponents are extremely experienced candidates, who are unfairly being ignored.

Clinton has 4 more years in the Senate, and 4 less years in public service. Her legislative accomplishments look a lot less impressive than Obama's, despite her longer tenure in the Senate. For example, Obama has Lugar-Obama on proliferation, Obama-Feingold on lobbying reform, and Coburn-Obama on transparency, while Clinton has, primarily, 9/11 relief to New Yorkers (which I'm sure she had to be pulling teeth among Senators to get...).

McCain's a backbencher known for passing a single major law - McCain-Feingold, because of his own scandalous past (Keating 5), a law that SCOTUS to some extent has gutted, and a law that he appears to have personally broken.

You really think he would be getting 90% of the Black vote if he were white? Do you think anyone would be calling the candidacy of a white man "historic"?

Maybe he would be doing better amongst Hispanics and white males, but I think that would be seriously offset by loss of votes elsewhere.

Somehow I think Obama's experience is not vastly less than Hillary's experience, given that both have about one term of senate experience under their brim... if she gets to count being first lady, he gets to count being a law professor or whatnot

While you might be right (thinking of her 50%+ negativity rating), I do think that the number of black votes and the percentages of them that Obama is getting are noteworthy.

I might be inclined to go with "he would be doing as well or better if he were white, but in a different way", but I don't think that one can ignore the significant support Obama has got just because he is black.

The biggest element of truth to Ferraro's statement is that if a viable black candidate weren't running, Clinton would have the black vote, and therefore the nomination, sewn up.
