Do Dangerous Dogs Distress Denizens?

What is your opinion about dangerous dogs in cities?

A few days ago I was walking to work and I passed by a girl (25-ish) walking a very muscular dog. While passing by I had my eyes fixed on the beast and didn't stop looking at it until I was at a safe distance.

The dog was not on a leash and didn't have a muzzle, so I was in danger. For example: if I tripped and fell on the dog's master it would probably have been understood as an attack by the animal and it would have jumped at my throat.

I also got the impression that this girl probably gets a kick from passerbys being alerted by her "pet".

My current theory is that the only dogs allowed in cities should be chiuauas. If it doesn't fit in a pocket it's not city-friendly.

I don't have something against big dogs in general, but I can't stand if some people only get certain types and make them agressive as a kind of "living weapon" to run around with.

1. Dogs MUST be on leashes in any non-rural location. This is generally a law at least in the US.

2. Even in rural settings, dogs that are not well trained better be on leashes, or their owners will soon be ostracized

3. Dogs that are on leashes and are able to be controlled by their owners are fine. If you can't do both of these things, you shouldn't own a dog (of any size).

What dog do you think bites the most frequently?
If I remember correctly, poodles then pomeranians.
Not huge dogs. No matter the size or breed, it's all on the owner and training, or lack of same.

A while back, I was walking to work, when an ankle-high dog came running out of a house and attacked my big toe.

I chased him away. No damage, except from some residual dog slobber.

I agree that big dogs' place is not in the city, but I also think that small dogs are unbearably ugly and should be banned to show the goddamned nature some respect.
If you want a big dog - move to a country home.
