This is beyond retarded. He is there so that he gets publicity, clearly one playboy tool is not going to help the war effort , especially since there is no British war effort in Afghanistan. Not surprising if they leaked this to have an excuse to get him out early.
Wow, to be so hateful so young

He has served 10 weeks in one of the unstable areas of Afghanistan, which in other words means in that time he has risked more an accomplished more for a cause he believes in more than you will ever do in your lifetime.

In any case, I never knew what the big deal is. His uncle served in the Falklands and that was a far more dangerous enviroment casualty to participant wise that Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

False. He has accomplished nothing except good publicity. Britain's contribution to Afghanistan is negligible to the point of being laughable. He patrols deserted villages for 10 weeks, which is about 10% of the average first tour of duty of most soldiers down there.

1.) look up Helmand province on a map and then burn yourself on a the stove in penance.

2.) why do you think those villages are abandoned?

3.) the normal deployment (in the US) is not 100 weeks. Check how many weeks are in a year and then burn your other hand on the stove for good measure.

              Yeah I'm sure that's it.

After all, it isn't like he's the only one of Charles' kids in the military and has a strong sense of camaraderie and esprit de corps with the rest of the soldiers.

Or that the British media apparently knew about it for a while and kept quiet until Drudge "broke" the story.

Many US soldiers have spent in sum in excess of 100 weeks in Iraq and Afghanistan, though not consecutively.

The idea that this kid -- who, judging by his coverage before this stunt, was widely known as a complete douchebag -- is risking and accomplishing heroic things is beyond naive. In fact, the idea Britain is risking or accomplishing anything in Afghanistan is a bit optimistic . In seven years, Britain has lost only 85 troops in Afghanistan. That's like twelve troops a year. The horror.

Don't buy into this crap about how this kid is risking everything and going to war for something he believes in. This isn't even a war in Afghanistan anymore. Iraq was too dangerous for this stunt however. And now that his handlers have released this story, he can come home having spent only 10 weeks in the province. Nice deal for a tool with flagging popularity.

Afghanistan is very dangerous. An alarming number of Canadians have died saving over there.

                            Drudge.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

We have an army about 1/12 the size of the US army, we are currently sustaining sending for us a large number of troops in Afghanistan. We only took over the responsibility for Helmand in the last 2.5 years, no one has claimed that the UK has been fighting the war for 7.

If your measure of success or failure is down to how many troops you get killed, I'm glad you are not in charge. Even WW1 generals were not proud of having their trrops massacred, they may not have cared but they wern't proud

Frankly you are an absolute ****wit, if you think that the British are not committed to the war effort in Afghanistan. There is a war going on there and people in my country are dying because of it.

There are also many British soldiers who have spent over 100 weeks in Iraq and Afghanistan. You haven't go a monopoly on this.

Prince Harry is not in the Gurkhas BTW, he's a Cornet in the Household Calvary, aka the blues and royals. Apparently there is a Gurkha unit at the same location however. I'd guess that's no coincidence.

The newsrag, New Idea, broke the voluntary embargo of where the prince was stationed.
