    'FBI fugitive' is innocent German

A couple filmed at the Sicilian resort of Taormina last year have been identified as innocent Germans and not a top FBI fugitive and his girlfriend.

The holidaymakers had been thought to be alleged crime boss James J Bulger, on the run since 1994, and his girlfriend Catherine Grieg.

FBI agents had travelled to Europe to publicise the video after facial recognition experts raised the alert.

"Whitey" Bulger, now in his late 70s, is wanted on 18 counts of murder.

Other charges include racketeering and extortion.

The FBI says it is grateful to the German couple for coming forward to assist the investigation, after agents appeared on a German crime programme appealing for help.

They said that the hunt for the real James Bulger goes on.

    'London sightings'

The suspect's face appears on the FBI's website beneath that of Osama Bin Laden.

The fugitive is the alleged "godfather" of an Irish-American crime gang that operated in Boston, Massachusetts, in the 1970s and 1980s.

He disappeared shortly before being arrested on racketeering charges.

He has since been identified as a long-term FBI informant who turned in rival gangsters.

According to the US authorities, Mr Bulger has a violent temper and always carries a knife.

FBI agents have previously visited London following a reported sighting in Piccadilly in 2002.

A businessman said he had seen Mr Bulger near the Meridian Hotel on 10 September 2002, and had also seen him in the hotel's gym in 1994.

Hmm, your 'popular German cultural export' sounds to be of quite french inspiration...

Link, at the bottom of your wiki/Telematch page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_a_Knockout
It's a Knockout, which was adapted from the French show Intervilles, ran from 1966 to 1982 and then again from 1999 to 2001. It featured teams, each representing a town or city, competing to complete bizarre tasks in absurd games, generally while dressed in outlandish costumes
      http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intervilles (in french)
Guy Lux et Pierre Brive inventent ce jeu diffusé chaque été à partir du 17 juillet 1962
      [...]

Quatre émissions seront dérivées ultérieurement d’Intervilles :

      * Interneiges et Interglaces, versions hivernales
      * Jeux sans frontières, version dans laquelle s'affrontent des équipes de différents pays européens.
      * Intervilles Juniors,
      Translation, in short:
Intervilles (Intercities), the original show was first broadcast in 1962.
4 other show were derived from it: Interneiges, Interglaces (Inter-snow, Inter-ice)
Jeux sans frontières in 1965; and Intervilles Juniors

The idea of the show came from the General Charles de Gaulle, whose wish was that French and German youth would meet in a series of funny games to reinforce the friendship between France and Germany. The games were inspired by the matches between French cities.
Oh, and BTW, the same goes for the video in the first post. If I understood correctly, this is some kind of german smurf song.
The smurfs... oops, that's belgian export...

Oh, but maybe this thread is about the 'german touch', or 'how to make something sillier than it is already in the original version'?

A recycling system complicated enough to be a university course.

I swear when the dudes in Kraftwerk wrote 'Die Roboter', they had in mind the millions of Germans mindlessly sorting their trash into God only knows how many different categories.

Your cop team, no doubt... but beware of the US cop team with their tazers, I've heard they're training like professionals.

On the citizen player side, you might have it hard with some asian contestants. I think the Singapurian one is quite good.

The US tazer police are overrated. The subject has to either be falling down drunk or it takes six of them to hold the subject down while they tazer him. I doubt they would do well in the face of real competition.

I'm not allowed to be a Nazi and hence, have no choice but to fully support your statement.
