Poly Admin has POLL in the HISTORY forum about folding it into OT

That poll (and the one in the Tech forum) primarily serves to find out what the people who actually use the forum think about the issue, and we are looking at who voted as much as what they voted. Not because we don't care about what anyone else thinks but most people who don't use it but care strongly have given their opinion already, we know about that. That poll is only one of a number of things we're considering in making our decision, we will not blindly follow its outcome regardless of what it is. Rest assured that all pros and cons that we're aware of are being taken into account, including all the ones that have been raised in the various discussions about this in the past.
Locutus - Yes, I understand you want to poll the "users" of the subforum however you are (intentionally) omitting the opinions of those that would use history threads if we didn't have to go looking for them.

If I am to seek out a History Forum it will be a real one thank you.

Yeah, them threads is really hard to find when you have to go looking for them in the...........history forum!
It's a tough argument either way...
Provide people who want to seriously discuss history with their own sub forum so that they can find the latest threads without having to search through a ton of spam and political threads...
Or put the threads back in the OTF where they will be lost, spammed, and hard to find simply because some people are too lazy to click on the history forum to find threads about history...
If I go to Poly's History Forum I have to blow the dust off threads. Why would I do that when there are plenty of dedicated history forums out there (Google "History Forum" and you will see what I mean)?
I come to OT for a wide mix of topics and some history threads would be nice.

Yeah... that's a problem. One of the reasons for creating a history forum was to hopefully jump start discussion on history. Serious history threads just couldn't survive in the OT. The typical people would spam them or simply post WTF... or they would drop like stones and be impossible to find. So yeah, some serious history threads would be nice... but we really didn't see them in the OTF, and unfortunately, we aren't seeing many of them in the History forum as well.
However, there are a few dedicated posters and that's why we wanted to know what they think.

I promise you we're not omitting those in our decision making, just from that particular poll
Fair enough. I just wanted to point out the poll would be missing some yes votes simply b/c the posters didn't/won't see it (hence my resurrecting of this not-topped thread).
