In a few years we'll be having implants in our hands or forehead too, accoring to those in the know. We'll use the implant to identify ourselves and to trade. I'd love that to not be implemented too, but I'm afraid I have this 2000 year old book who tells me otherwise.

Ah, I see.
Well, it is an important part of the Christian belief. There are different schools on how to understand the texts of course. From my take, we are in the end times. How the end times will spill out, is a different thing. Christians have claimed to be close to the end for quite a few centuries after all. I do believe we are closer than ever though.
