Y'know, in the fifties they were saying we'd have helper robots in our houses by 1990. And...well, my view on transhumanism is well-known here. How would we be powering these nanobots? Who repairs the repairmen? And what happens when they break down and start jamming our arteries?

You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

It was only about 15 years late... and in a slightly more primitive version.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Humanoid robots will get started in the same way the Internet did. If you catch my drift.

                Teh internet is for p0rn!
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

                  And ACS.

But with humanoid robots both will cease to exist.

I’ve been thinking how to save poly. Maybe we should close all forums except Civ4, Spore and Off-topic. Then we should turn Spore into a porn only sub-forum.

BTW why would ACS be gone too?

Nvm. I just realized that people will always be at work with nothing else to do.

In developed countries might just as well power them by oxidizing blood glucose. It's not like well fed people can't spare the calories.
