...and why popular votes ensure perfectly reasonable results when it comes to contests like this.

The Monopoly folks figured it's a good idea to leave the composition of their World Edition up to an internet poll. And it is. As it stands, the 5 most valuable cities in the game will be Montreal, Paris, Cape Town, London and Sydney. Jerusalem is another global hub at #6, closely followed by Riga at #8. Naturally Belgrade concludes the top 10. A mere 3 Canadian cities made it into the top 20, but if Quebec and Winnipeg make it as wildcard cities, the WE board will contain a more sensible composition of 5 Canadian cities. Either will have to work hard to boot Gdynia from the #1 wildcard position though.

They were drunk. The counters of the votes, well, probably the voters, too.

Yes, only alcohol can explain how Tokyo managed to squeeze its way into the top list as well. Even if it's just 19th.

Incidentally, this list coincides precisely with the list I have of the cities with the most wankers.

One can see why this will be the game's most valuable street.

If strip clubs were our barometer, I think Windsor would be #1.

It seems weird that the leader has less that 5% of the votes. Weirder still that the leader is 1.5% above the No. 2 cites.

How are the Wild Card cities chosen? They don't appear to have anything to do with the voting. What positions will they be in the game: railroads and utilities?

4.7% is actually quite a lot. There's 80 cities you can vote for from their main list. Wild card cities are cities chosen from outside the main list. Any city on this world can be one of the two wild card cities that will be on the board. But seriously, you could have looked that up for yourself.

That's not even the best strip club in town .

I approve it being #1 though. I'd buy that boardgame

                          JERUSALEM ON THE MONOPOLY BOARD

You can, if you wish, have your say over Jerusalem.

The manufacturers of Monopoly (which, they claim, is the best-selling board game in the world) are holding an online poll to decide which cities should be in their forthcoming "World Edition" of the game.

As of 18 February, "Jerusalem, Israel" was fifth on the leader board, sandwiched between "Riga, Latvia" and "Paris, France".

This is no accident. The campaign group One Jerusalem is determinedly encouraging people to make Jerusalem number one, by the time voting closes at the end of the month.
