We need more partisanship in Washington. This going along to get along bull**** that Bush and the GOP congress have been doing is hurting my pocketbook.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

You might not like that trade, Donegeal.
None of these Washington-based politicians have any fortitude in keeping spending in check. They're all gutless. I've never seen a bigger bunch of pussies in my life (and I've been living in Washington for quite a while). They don't even seek to follow through on what their ideology dictates.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. Okay...the deed is done.
There were NO workers from ANY campaign outside my polling station. This is the first election in 6 years of voting there that this has been the case. There was no waiting at all...looks like the turn out is pretty light if that was any indication.
DanS, I hear ya brother! However, the dems don't seem likely to cede control of the Congress so a Republican President would seem to be in order. McCain seems to be the one that would meet in the middle the most (I guess that is a good thing??). I don't know...maybe some sense will come out of it all. I, for one, do not hold a large amount of hope for our country for the next four years."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

No. Eff that. Bush couldn't even finish his budget before he submitted it. What's the middle ground there? It has no definition. He and the rest of the GOP in Washington don't even know what they should think in order that a positive compromise could be reached."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. Might as well elect Obama, if the GOP isn't going to do ****.
Gridlock isn't the same as what the GOP has been doing. Hey, but if you vote in the GOP, you know that they will stumble around without a clue as to why they're in Washington. With lack of direction, they'll merely feed the GOP version of special interests. Better to elect Obama, who you know will drive the economy off the cliff -- saves a step or two.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. The economy is already in a tail spin. The second Bush recession is already scheduled for later this year. (Third recession if you count his father's.) The GOP doesn't ever seem to do anything but nose dive the economy. Bush Sr got hit with the recession caused by Reagan's S&L crisis then over corrected and landed up in a second recession. Clinton spent 8 years fixing that Republican **** up only to have Bush Jr screw the pooch again.
Given that Republicans are dismal failures at foreign policy and are no better at domestic policy... Why should anyone ever vote for them?Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

I'm not exactly sure why Dems slam George Herbert Walker Bush for his recession. He tried to cut the deficit and made a hard decision to raise taxes and deal with a minor recession so that the country would be on the right path financially. I guess he could have just ignored it, but he didn't.
Why slam him for that?“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Bush Sr was that most rare of things. A Republican who actually tried to be honest saying we actually had to pay for our spending; of course the Democratic Congress was demanding steep cuts and/or increases in taxes because everyone knew Reagan's disastrous budget deficits couldn't continue. I give him credit for that, for doing most of the hard negotiating on NAFTA, and for getting the first Gulf War correct.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.
