The shelters here apparently are not full on warm days/nights but the demand unsurprisingly goes up in the winter. On a super-cold day, it spikes as even the worst paranoids and people that think they can fend for themseleves, take refuge as well.

In related news, the Calgary committee on homelessness issued their report with their 10 year plan. Its not shocking that the biggest need is for affordable housing and that this alone is a solution for many of the working poor. They also have identified hundreds of chronic homeless people, many with addiction or mental problems-- Those folks will be tougher

Thank you, PH. I was worried I'd have to spell it out for everyone

Since whatever PH posted does not appear for me, I guess I still need the spelling out

Blue skies heading your way, Oerdin! 40 minutes ago, we were socked in under dreary gray skies. But now there's only a single puffy cloud, which is blowing away fast.

                Get out the sun glasses!

It was 9°F / -13°C when I got up this morning, but it's warmed up to a balmy 35 / 2, on the way to a supposed high of 42 / 6. High of 45 / 7 tomorrow, with a chance of thunderstorms. But then colder Wed, 20 / -7, with chance of snow.

Canadians: your weather has arrived. We went from high 40s yesterday evening to -10 or so this morning. That's quite the drop.

Convenient really. The big melt-off revealed a month's worth of concealed dog poop. The freeze turned them into easily pickable little turd-sickles.

Spring sucks though when they get revealed and have already thawed

We had highs in the low 30's on Friday, Saturday the high was 70.

We are supposed to have a low tonight of about 32 while highs remain in the 70s.

Don't worry, we only lost about 1 storm's worth of snow cover -- there are plenty of poop-mines still lurking until spring.

It's a really good thing I perfomed poop picking procedures this morning -- blizzard just arrived, they'd have been way buried again.
