You were wrong about teh "mature woman who goes to Greece for vacations, falls in love and sleeps with a handsome greek, later finds out that the greek sleeps with all tourist women, but at the end she doesnt mind because she had a good time" bit, though; it's actually about Russel Crowe who goes to Rome and pwns teh hell out of everyone there

Here's a list of words where I routinely forget the word itself but the meanings I remember:

            Reconcile

            Vestigial

            Prehensile

            Amicable

            Eschatology

            Etiolated

            Inimical

A question. (A genuine one, surprisingly - dragging this thread back on topic.)

I know eschatalogy is the study of the "end of times", or the destruction myths in religion.

What's the study for the opposite - the beginning of times, in the religious sense? I think it's a similar word to eschatology, but I can't remember what it is.

What is the word for the study of extremely obscure words? Because I think you'll need an expert in whatever that is.
"Every time I have to make a tough decision, I ask myself, 'What would Tom Cruise do?' Then I jump up and down on the couch." - Neil Strauss

Today my half-asleep interior monologue on the drive to class was discussing the effects of economic globalization on the U.S. and all of a sudden I hit a brick wall when, to describe the status of our manufacturing sector, I attempted to access a word that had simply vanished from my vocabulary for no reason. Yet the meaning was still there - it's what you do when you dump luggage off a boat to lower its weight, empty fuel out of a plane to make it more stable, eject ballast from a submarine, etc.

I thought it'd be a great candidate for this thread, but then two hours later in class the word "jettisoned" just popped up in my mind out of nowhere. The info was there all along, just inaccessible at the time it was actually needed. What a pain in the ass.
                              Unbelievable!

That wasn't what I was thinking of, but it'll do. Thanks again LS!
