  • Buying a new house

Thats whats next. I am buying a brand new house in the next month or so, depending on how fast the paper work is done.

We found this nice piece of land, 18034 square feet on a street corner. Which means I will be able to put the garage on the side of the house like I always wanted to. Of course, it will be BIG garage. 34'x24' 2 door garage with enough space for a workshop in it...and a new project car!
Since I am having it built, I will get in completly done except for interior finishing, which I will do by mtself with my dad. Wood flooring, counters, ceramic, stairs, paint, molding, everything. I should save around 8000$ in labor, which means more money for the garage!

Also, the basement will be open to any idea we have in the near futur.

Since I will have the house I have been dreaming of for a while now, it will be time to move on to bigger things: KIDS!

Great. Can I have the old one since we're such good buddies?

Are you sure the garage is big enough for your tastes?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I really don't know, but if it makes you feel better a lot of people here still think I'm a kid.

Doing the interior finishing yourself (w/family)? I hope that that all goes smoothly.

Cool that you're having it built for you. I did briefly ponder doing that but ultimately decided it was too much effort/stress. People I know who have had houses built from stratch were always worn down by the process.

                Best of luck.

Its no biggy. I love doing home improvments, I find it relaxing. Also, my dad was a house designer and builder before he retired. All will go well.

I dont have the money to by an 18034sq ft land in Montreal, that would be like 1,000,000$....

Its in The Laurentides, 25 minutes north of montreal with no traffic.Mon treal is the blue spot, I will live on the south border of the red territory.

The land costs 68K$, its a pretty good deal considering the time we are in now. Also, the surrondings will be saturated in the next 5 to 10 years, and they are building a 2,000,000 sqft mall 10 minutes away meaning big increase in value for my house. .

The mall they are building is the same owner as the west edmonton mall, it will have a rollercoaster, ice park and everything.

Its a good investment in the long run.
