How about a Focus? For 10k you should be able to get a 1.6 with all the toys and less than 2 years old and less than 15k on the clock.
But I don't like the idea of participating in knife-crime.

    Oi! I owned a BMW once, and I ain't a tw@t
That would be oxymoronic were it not for the fact that, presumably, you no longer own a BMW .

On top of it, he told me he didn't know what class it was. I think the funniest thing of it was that he thought I cared.
It's funny how people buy them as status symbols when they're far less civilised than even an Audi. They're kind of like the motoring equivalent of an iPod, except iPod owners don't generally get uncomfortably close the rear end of someone who owns a Zune.

And and about the F1 car, exactly how many gallons to the mile does that consume?

I would wholeheartedly recommend the Bugatti Veyron...

It makes 10 kilometers on 8 liters, I don't know what that is in miles to the gallon...

Curse you Dauphin and your fandangled modern units...the Americans will never understand them. What is that in cubits per chaffinch bladder?

I don't know if it's cost-effective in Britain, but I'm quite pleased with my Honda Civic.

Ordinarily you'd be right but I'm not yet 23 so I'm a little way from my mid-life crisis. In all seriousness though it's a decent car, if I can find a nice low key model I'll have to look at the insurance but otherwise .

                      A Mondeo hatch? :dubious:

On the subject of cars and age - one of the few good things about getting old is that the insurance generally gets cheaper.

WhoTF would consider a Civic for a mid-life crisis? Or do mid-life crises in Britain involve looking for the most pedestrian car this side of a Corolla?

Apologies to the handful of decent Beamer drivers out there, but the majority are so overwhelmingly obnoxious on the road that anyone in this country getting one knows how they are going to look.

                              ZOMG Corollas.

I drove one once for a while as an interim vehicle and it was a nightmare. 0-60 in 5 minutes. The only good thing about it was that you didn't have to slow down for speed bumps at all, as the suspension would soak it all up, in the same way as it would absorb any attempts at acceleration.

True. For my first year, the cheapest I could find for my 2 litre Mazda was a smidgen under £1200 / year , but that's gone down to £800 now.
