On subject, bought an 8 yo mondeo 2 years ago, fuel efficency could probably be better but is reasonable even when it's cold. Oh, and no problem breaking speed limits

You obviously cant or didn't count.

a difference 3 to 5% between new and used car loans doesnt coompensate for a 20% higher purchase price.

Also, he said he had 10k available.

And taking a car loan over 10 years is just stupid when the warranty expires after 5. Also, I think 7 years is the max term you can get in Canada...not sure for elsewhere though.

car loans should never be for more than 5 years

even 5 is pushing it, 3 is prefered

if I had cash, then definitely don't get a loan

I didn't have cash though, and for cars that I could get loans for.. a new car cost as much as a used (I got a 10k new car, which is as cheap as they go)

and I have a 10 year warranty

How about a Focus? For 10k you should be able to get a 1.6 with all the toys and less than 2 years old and less than 15k on the clock.

I've never owned one, only hired them, but it should be more economical than your 2 litre and hold its value better than a Mazda. Also it will be easier to find a cheaper garage for servicing once the manufacturers warranty has expired.

Do a search on Autotrader.

If you want something less common look at a Volvo S40.

I was talking to some guy at school the other night and he was talking about some other guy who had a BMW. I thought it was weird that he would tell me the guy had a BMW because we weren't talking about cars or anything. On top of it, he told me he didn't know what class it was. I think the funniest thing of it was that he thought I cared.
