To be fair, I only wished his ship would take a missile. That isn't quite the same as wishing him or all of them dead, though, as with any call for a military strike, it would be naïve not to understand that such call necessarily means death and dismemberment. Just as a call for bombing Iran does. Whatever our government's differences with their government, calling for an attack on Iran was calling for people to be killed. Not quite as sanguine when it's directed at you?

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Read some more, so more comments:

            1. This guy is deeply elitist. Not hating the common man, but very disillusioned with him.

            2. The articles (the book is a collection of articles) are coherent and they have a high memetic content (phrases that you can think about). That's why I'm reading slower than I would.

            3. Agathon: neoconservativists have helped create sounder intellectual foundations for conservativism. As the author notes: it used to be impossible to hear about a "conservative intellectual" before, but it is common now.

In my view this an unhealthy basis for a political philosophy. Especially when mixed with an enthusiasm for militarism as a regular tool of policy.

And what would these intellectual foundations be?

That was my point. They're hollow men.
