  • Get Off Of My TV/Radio!!!

Everywhere I turn there is some freaking lame ass campaign ad! I listen to them on the radio on the way to work, I listen to them on the radio on the way home from work. Then when I get home every other commercial is a freaking lame ass advertisement with sappy music and some movie preview announcer wannabe pretending he is saying something heart wrenching.

Obama actually had a hiphop add, I was expecting him to break out into some freestyle. Then immediately afterwards a Thompson commercial that mentions Reagon a billion times. I am sitting in house and there is Edwards pretending he worked a cotton Mill. YOU''RE A MILLIONAIRE JOHN! Ron, I don't give a **** if you were a flight surgoen during the Cuban Missile crisis, you didn't do anything special for it so you just get normal veteran points.

I went to my favorite diner for brunch Sunday and there are eight black Suburbans coated in McCain stickers taking up all the parking spaces. I take the girfriend out the diner that same night and there are a dozen Hilary campaign hippies from the local college who wouldn't shut the hell up.

    Hilary
    Obama
    Edwards:q;
    McCain
    Romney
    Huckabee
    Thompson

    GO HOME!!!

At least Rudy pulled his adds last week. They probably wouldn't have been that bad if they were not repeated at nauseam, literally back to back sometimes.

Be glad you don't live in Iowa or New Hampshire; those folks got hammered. Your primaries will be in just a couple of weeks. Hang in there, buy a walkman and borrow books-on-CD from the library.

You know, for the first time, I think I'm glad the Florida legislature passed that bill moving the primary to the 29th. No ad spending is allowed here by either party.

I very much sympathize... the next ten months are going to be complete hell in Chicago, where everyone running for the ****ing school board has to run a tv ad...

          I am jealous

I say there should be a national TV channel and radio station that all campaign ad have to be broadcast on so we can all ignore them completely.

Also, no more than 5 minutes of election coverage per hour on 24 hour news channels

Sounds like yet another reason to avoid TV.

                    I wouldn't be as I don't watch TV.

Most Canadians receive US stations with their cable subscription. I grew up watching Buffalo news (Tonawanda is always on fire) and Detroit stations are on the cable package here.

Or we could make it legal to shoot candidates who run annoying commercials.

No, but they should be banned b/c they are just plain awful.

We could have an interesting discussion wrt Canadian commercial policy on the American TV feeds (sometimes the US ads are removed and replaced with Cdn ones...) but that would be yet another threadjack.
