  • Ron Paul's newsletters

A reporter takes a look at Paul's past

But, whoever actually wrote them, the newsletters I saw all had one thing in common: They were published under a banner containing Paul's name, and the articles (except for one special edition of a newsletter that contained the byline of another writer) seem designed to create the impression that they were written by him--and reflected his views. What they reveal are decades worth of obsession with conspiracies, sympathy for the right-wing militia movement, and deeply held bigotry against blacks, Jews, and gays. In short, they suggest that Ron Paul is not the plain-speaking antiwar activist his supporters believe they are backing--but rather a member in good standing of some of the oldest and ugliest traditions in American politics.
Even if he didn't pen the articles themselves, that they were published under his name is extremely disturbing.

I don't know how. Every idiot on the internet has been talking him up. I envy you if you are telling the truth.

I enjoyed reading the comments after the article. Not only were about 95% pro Ron Paul but the exposed the poor journalism and biased journalism of the author. Amazingly there were actual sources and links in the comments.

Should we be shocked that a neo-con magazine would write an anti- Ron Paul story right before the NH primary. And as its damning evidence have to cite article (with no links or proof) from over 20 years ago that were not even authored by Ron Paul. By the way anyone willing to do a little research will realize that the actual author of the racist remarks was fired by Paul as soon as he was aware of the comments.

FOX tried to silence him, the New Republic blatantly lies about him. My biggest fear is that if he actualy wins a primary or two a "lone gunman" will assassinate him.

The New Republic can hardly be described as any flavor of conservative.

Oh, and very important, is Ron Paul catholic or anything?

The other thing you really need is to get rid of that age old and useless religion; you guys practically live on fear; what is the point?

                      What did Clinton do?

He is a member of the Republican party and the only libretarian / constitutionalist actually running for the U.S. presidency.

He speaks about the constitution with reverance and respect, not as if it is an outdated doctrine.

He calls trading liberty for security the facist scam that it is.

                        Ron Paul in '08!

DinoDoc, I know, but it's more fun to try and stir things up here.

Vesayen, but after Bush, I have little trust in the US Republican world.

Clinton was a decent president. He didn't have that "I have a excellent plan to take over the world" smirk on his face, like Bush. Clinton looked like your tall next door neighbour doing the gardens.
Bush looks like Dr. Evil's stupid cousin.
Clinton looks like your favourite professor.
Bush looks like a caretaker who is a little too nice to the children.
Clinton looks like your favourite uncle.
Bush looks like your annoying auntie.
Clinton looks like he understands things with common sense.
Bush acts like he has the "holy light" beaming from his arse.

                            this is fun!
