Was that blog post something you REALLY wanted to sell us on these, Oerdin?

It's about time The Counter opened. But why then am I still craving that Red Robin burger?

Our order of fries and onion strings ($3.95)-- limp and crunchy, respectively

So limp fries and a burger that makes the blogger want a burger from a competing joint (though Red Robin does make a good burger).

I didn't have the fries. I wanted to save room for the burger and I still couldn't finish it.

Still this is about burgers not fries!

Yes, and the blogger said the burger left him craving a Red Robin one .

Five Guy's website looks suspeciously like In'N Out Burger's. Are they a clone of In'N Out or are they significantly different?

I was talking about the red and white color scheme and the red checker motif. In'N Out has it in all their restaurants since the 1940's.

The New York City write up has pictures and their burgers do look bigger then In'N Outs. Never went to five guys before though.

                    As does Checkers.

And In'N Out doesn't on their site.

Edit: At their wiki site, In'N Out doesn't seem to have a checker motif. Red palm trees against a white background maybe.

Culver's is the world's best (fast food) burger chain, and they have the data to prove it

I don't like burgers that are that thick ... as patrokolos notes, it should be broader rather than thicker. Otherwise you can't fit it in your mouth...

Red and white checker themes go back ages in American burger chain, no one has any exclusive right to them.

I ate at one of the 5-brothers and it was rather good. My own grilled burgers are of course superior. For thous of you who don't know a patty needs to be in the shape of a concave lens before cooking to counter the natural pucking into a convex shape which will be too fat to bite into as these burgers appear to be.

Yeah, it seems all they're doing is offering a load of ingredients, but the art of making a good burger has been totally lost. Those look uncomfortable to try and eat unless you have a massive jaw.

There's joint nearby that, cooincidentally (it appears to be owned and staffed by older immigrant Chinese), has a billboard with strong resemblances to the Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It's pretty decent.

In Austin, a Korean-owned chain (Burger Tex) makes bulgoki burgers. I miss it.
