    Actually not, ERs in the UK are called EDs (Emergency Department). There's no such thing as Casualty.

        Maybe it's just an internal thing - my girlfriend keeps correcting me when I call it A&E or casualty. Unless I mean A&E, as apparently they're different

          My medical friends haven't ever said ED. then again, they watch Scrubs to help them revise.

            Random, off topic factoid: Calling it the Emergency Department instead of Emergency Room is a growing trend in America as well, more and more hospitals are adopting the term as it really is a department, not just a single room.
