  • Europeans welcome your new Slovenian overlords

Yup, by virtue of the failed referendums in France and the Netherlands on the EU constitutions a few years ago, we are at the
helm for six months. The fun part is that I personally (and a lot of people agree with me) consider Slovenia’s current right-wing administration about as competent as its American counterpart. May God have mercy on your souls.

Our emperor... ehh....I mean our PM

    WTF is Slovenia?

Our goverment's site with a "message of welcome" by our PM

    Ain't teh EU silly sometimes?

The Economist had an article about how this is good that Slovenia's leadership coincides with Kosovo's independence. Does that really even matter?

Actually it doesn’t, since Serbia doesn’t want Kosovo to be independent, ever. I personally consider it a waste of effort; let the big powers who can force their solution sort that mess up.

Concerning the former Yugoslavian region, I really can’t understand why my government is making that such priority.

Don’t get me wrong, I think we could let the Croatians into the EU almost immediately, they are far more developed than Romania and Bulgaria (they really should have waited for a decade or two before letting those in) and more importantly, richer than either of the said states. Well, we can let them in if they remove their claims on what is *clearly* Slovenian territory.

Macedonia can join (baiting Markos) in 7 or so years and yes, we should try to help them.
Montenegro? When their economy and legal order is up to it.
No need to waste effort on the rest for at least half a century or so.
