As for the taunting, even assuming the trio were taunting the tiger and even assuming their taunting so enraged the tiger, she jumped out of the cage, what followed is still heroic.
The tiger had one of the brothers down and was mauling him. Sousa and the other brother yelled at the 300+ pound tiger in an attempt to scare her away or distract her. That was when the tiger left the first brother and attacked Sousa, killing him, while the two brothers ran away.
Sousa could have run but he attempted to save the first brother, and he was killed in the attempt.Comment

So this is making a lot of news still. A witness claims they saw the victims taunting the tiger. Some reports they found a slingshot, but now they are saying that is not true. But there are reports of items inside the enclosure that are not supposed to be there. The remaining victims are denying taunting the tiger, and the victims families have hired a celebrity lawyer.
Soon as I hear celebrity lawyer I'm in disgust. They don't deserve a dime, even though the zoo should have had higher fences. Tigers are not there for humans to abuse and taunt them. I'm disgusted by human behaviour sometimes, and have little compassion for the victim. At first I didn't mind they killed the tiger, but now I'm upset they killed the tiger. As he really did nothing wrong.
Now there are some things zoos should have done. They aren't completely innocent in this. I'm hearing reports they waited 30 minutes to call 911. You'd think they'd have a security guard at the zoo who has access to a tranquilizer gun. That would have saved the tiger's and possibly victim's life. And I bet for less than $20,000 you could buy equipment that monitors dangerous animal's position and sends out an alarm if that animal breaks free of the enclosure. This would sound on a beeper a special security guard wears, and he would unlock a nearby locker with a tranquilizer gun.
And why don't they have security cameras around the danerous animal exhibits? That would have protected them from lawsuit. Now they are going to get their pants sued off.
Either way, you can see why I hate zoos. Humans are cruel to these animals and taunt them. I'm sure this isn't the only case of this.Last edited by Dis; January 3, 2008, 18:32.Comment

The version I heard is that a witness saw 4 teenagers taunting the lions and didn't know if three of them were the victim and the two brothers.A witness claims they saw the victims taunting the tiger
(It'd really be a pisser if 4 teens were taunting the tiger; they walk away laughing; 3 other teens approach and get attacked by the escaping tiger.)Comment
