A little lesson on how to avoid the HEFTY estate tax....donate to a foundation in your family name and expense everything out of the foundation. "My personal net worth today, including created trusts, is approximately $2.3 billion, and what ever value it is upon my passing, it is my intent to contribute 97% of my estate to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, following in my father's footsteps." Sounds like he's following in Conrad's (founder of Hilton) footsteps to prevent from paying taxes. Lesson - Leave the finance to finance guys and don't take everything at face value. I bet if you look at that foundation, the head is getting $5 million in salary, the assets are being invested in different private equity funds, and hedge funds, and the residual annual interest income is what is being invested in the foundation efforts. That's a little bit of Capitalism 101 and 102.
