  • Help me name my new dog!!! Got new dog for xmas

Serious and non serious suggestion welcome. It's a male dog. Seems to be a Australian type dog like Mad Max had (can't remember the exact breed name) mixed with german shepard.

Anyways I mentioned we were celebrating and exchanging gifts today instead of xmas as my brother was working. Usually we don't have time to unwrap gifts when brother works. So my brother brings over a puppy today. He's not a fresh puppy, he's about 4 months old, but still doesn't have a name. Though my sister in law has been calling him Charlie, but she's only had him for a day, so he's not set on that name.

From what I understand my sister-in- law's aunt found the dog in a park at about 2 months old. I guess they never found the owners. They got the dogs first shots, and got him chipped, but haven't turned in the paperwork (I have the paperwork and can turn it in with my address now). I guess they never named the dog. I sure hope the dog takes to a name this late in his development. They still don't have the dog spayed yet. It won't be easy for me to get the dog's testicles cut off, I've never had to do a thing like that before. I prefer female dogs, but oh well.

I don't know much about training dogs. This will be difficult. but he's pretty much house broken already. So the hard part is done. I'm not sure how to teach a dog to sit and stuff, but we'll see.

his colors are light brown and black, with a lot of white on his chest. I'll probably stick with Charlie even though it make it sound like he's NVA.

Emotionally it was a little sooner than I wanted a dog so soon after having to put my old dog to sleep. But I'll take him. He seems to be a good dog from what I've heard so far. Not sure how big he'll get though. I'm not a big fan of giant dogs.

All the names you need. Ninja and Rambo both seemed like viable choices..

      albeit dumb choices

He's not a mean enough dog to fill out those choices. He's very docile, and submissive. He won't be a dominant dog like my last one. My last dog was a very strong, brave dog. This one doesn't appear to be that way. I'm worried he may be a little too submissive and won't be brave enough, or sturdy enough to take on my hikes. But we'll see. He could always make a good home dog.

Ok, dont call him Terminator then . As a useless tidbit of information, i'm surrounded by dog smell.. 4 of 6 apartments on my floor have dogs, i know one of them is called Musti... and they all smell. I think all dogs come with smell..

Yeah I'm not sure about this dog's smell, and he just had a bath yesterday... My last dog almost never smelled, even when I hardly ever gave her a bath. . I like a low maintenance dog, like I like my women...

awww, wasn't that the name the Jerk (Steve Martin) gave his dog in the movie the Jerk?

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if Mad Max's dog had a name? I don't think it did.

Roger. Never heard of a dog named Roger even though they try to roger everything in sight.

Congrats Dis. After reading about your last dog I'm sure you will be good for each other.

It has been several weeks hasn't it? I would never suggest "right away" as some people do (you need to grieve your loss) but I think you're ready now.

As for a name. Not my department.
