  • So im off to Chicago..

As many of you know, I shifted from NZ to Singapore to start a new life (NZ is boring for those who live there, like anywhere really).

I work as a IT, graphic designer, webmaster in a specialised company that deals with organising and organisers of major medical (and other) conferences and events/exhibitions, etc.

Anyway, we are undertaking a mission to upgrade our ticketing and hotel booking system, and the software developer is located in Chicago, they are also a similar company to us, but they have software developers as well. (It's the way of the world I guess).

So I have been asked to go over for 1 month and do some training. Any suggestions what I should do?

Leaving on 4 Jan, departing on 28 Jan. And yes I am aware it is bloody cold there right now, but don't forget where I come from, I'm not a little perennial flower.

I'm from Chicago, and love it, but you really got stuck going at a crap time of year, weather-wise. I know you can weather the cold, but lots of what's best about Chicago -- its awesome architecture, for example -- isn't conducive to cold-weather appreciation.

Basically: Go to the museums (they're all world-class), eat great food (Chicago's one of the country's great food cities), hear a lot awesome jazz and blues. And go see Second City, the most important institution in the history of American comedy.

Or just stalk Ming. Your call.

How could you leave the Shire? Who will get stuff off the top shelf?
