I've been listening to NPR and found out that a 300-400 year old Christmas tradition for the English speaking world has been dying out in recent years. Here's the article (you can listen to it via streaming audio): http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...oryId=17356371
Figgy pudding was once banned by 17th century Puritans in New England for fear that the combination of booze, spices, and sugar would in flame people's passions and lead to fornication. Charles Dickens' stories of Victorian England featured figgy pudding/Xmas pudding fairly prominently. Also it's really more of a cake then a pudding.
So should I strike a blow for tradition or does figgy pudding suck so bad that it deserves to die?
