What are some damn-good recipes for me to expand my catalog with?

My slow cooker one of my favourite things I own. I've got a tough piece of steak that I'm going to throw in tomorrow morning with some red wine and herbs to go all soft and delicious. Finish it off with my blowtorch (third favourite kitchen tool) to give it an edge of chargrilled goodness.
I'll have a think about some of my recipes I use fairly often.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

A good pot roast in a slow cooker is divine... and a barbeque beef brisket is also
LS, a slow cooker/crock pot is a large pot that cooks at ~110C (225 F), just above boiling or thereabouts. You cook meat and vegetable dishes in it typically, or soups (though you can cook many things in it). You cook for typically 3-8 hours depending on the dish. It gives extremely moist, flavorful dishes and perfectly tender meats regardless of the cut of meat (even the worst cut of chuck is tender in 8 hours of cooking).
"Fix It and Forget It" is a good series of crock pot cook books...

They cook food slowly in a pot.
I've been fixing things (stews, pot roasts, etc) and placing them in the crock pot when i leave in the morning. When I come home, dinner's ready and it's soooo tender.

You can even cook Bananas in them...
If you live alone, get a small (personal size) one. Too big of one is not a good idea (you want some depth to what you cook or it won't cook as nicely).

4 quart is okay, or even 2 quart if it's just you - depends on how much you want to make at once, basically (do you want to make leftovers?). I wouldn't go over 4 for just one person, though. 1 quart is too small unless you like making single serving meals.
