The difference is, Quran explicitly suggests and commands followers of Islam to do certain things which are "abhorrent" as you put it, while the New Testament does not.

    Google Sharia laws.

Unwarranted Christian bashing really ticks me off, since it is so duplicitous.
What I'm wondering is, if we had a few succesful missionaries of Pastafarianism, would we manage to create the credibility of our "religion" high enough in order to get to read about Pastafarianist death cults somewhere in the backwaters of Chad?

Anyone can have crazy splinter groups. Christianity has gotten much better at keeping those groups marginal, well except in the fundie US of A.
You are speaking as if "splinter groups" are not Christian.

I never meant to imply that, this probably is a kind of Christianity, but they are not considered such by almost all Christians. I'm pretty certain that people who blow themselves up are still considered followers of Islam by most of the members of the religion.
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

It might work but if you followed the pattern other religions took transitioning from cult to religion you'd have to bump off all the founding Pastafarians, create a holy Pastafarian book which was only about half based upon the original Pastafarian teachings, and then attempt to kill or excommunicate any former Pastafarians who disagreed with you.

VJ is right, this story is from Africa and not very surprising. This is the same continent that brought as baby rape as a cure for AIDS.

I can tell you that every single Christian church believes something unique, and by Christian church I mean the actual group that meets together every Sunday morning. To consider your Church the Christians is just a ridiculous as being a Christian.

You realize that sharia is based on far more than the Quran itself, right? Including the hadith and interpretations and discussions over the years.

You've never seen me on the forum have you? The notion of me considering my church "the Christians" is silly, since I’m an agnostic (most of the time).

To clear things up by Christians, I mean all the self-proclaimed Christians on this planet, and what the majority of them would think of this group if they ever bothered.

Every Christian group believes something unique? No **** Sherlock!

Anyhow, I already said they are a Christian, because they call themselves that. I just said they have little influence in mainstream Christianity. By this I mean they are irrelevant considering that 2 billion people who call themselves Christian..
