When gay divorce is outlawed, only outlaws will have straight sex...no, wait, that's not right.

Any state can say they interpret the law one way. Till the legislature changes the law to specifically say "No, THIS is what it means" or an appropriate court says "No, THIS is what it means", then they can do whatever they want.

It happens to a lot of long time partners who get married, actually. The surest way to split up a couple that's been together a long time is to get married. Something about the finality of marriage changes people's expectations about the relationship. My wife and I were together for 13 years before we married, and trust me, there were some serious rough patches, but we weathered it. We just celebrated seventeen years together Saturday.

What about with a sale on shoes at the mall, or a taser?

Come to think about it, Bunny Grrl hasn't posted here in a long time. Are you sure you haven't hit her in the head with a shovel and then buried her in the backyard?

Ooh, a tingly feeling. I sense the presence of... CIVNATION!

                  Damn straight too.

What's the world coming to these days, letting these gays and lesbians get married and then get divorced? How can we take the mockery-of-true-marriage that is gay marriage seriously, when these gays and lebzians keep violating their sacrosanct-but-ungodly vows, hence making a mockery of a mockery-of-a-holy-union - or mathematically speaking a mockery squared?

American historical traditions has shown that when two gays get married, God punishes them with a lifetime of misery, condemnation, and recriminations - in dramatic contrast against heterosexual marriages. It's also entirely false to assert that gay marriages "don't hurt" straight marriages. Do you have ANY IDEA how many straight marriages have been strained by the knowledge that a gay couple next door are taking it in the butt when the hetero wife has been holding out for years? What if the hetero husband - who's never had a gay bone in his body - starts wondering what it would be like to have a homosexual erection in his anatomy? THINK, people!

My local megachurch minister defines marriage as a union of one man and one woman* and nothing is going to change that simple fact.

(statistical margin of error: +/- 2.4 prostitutes, possibly gay).

If California had some crazy state law that allowed you to wed a grapefruit and then you come to Ohio and demand a judge anull the marriage it cannot do so because there never was any marriage to begin with in the eyes of the state of Ohio.
This is incorrect. The 5th Amendment "Privileges and Immunities" clause specifically states that a citizen of one state be entitled to the rights and privileges of citizens of the entire nation. Marriage is one such protected right, and divorce is likewise the same.

This came up quite a bit in the bad old days of racial miscegenation laws. Some states allowed whites and blacks to marry, but their marriages were unrecognized by other states. The federal courts heard the cases and upheld the marriages. It stands to reason that if somebody wanted to marry a person of the same gender in a state that allowed it, other states would be powerless to strip them of a status they had lawfully obtained.

Same goes for states that believe (for whatever reason, racial or not) that divorce is wrong and should not be recognized... If I'm divorced from my spouse in New York, then no other state can recognize me as married to him, regardless of what their legislature or voting populace thinks.

The truth hurts sometimes, but not all the time.

One time my doctor accidentally prescribed me sodium pentathol for a routine molar extraction, because he thought the roots were too deep.

Long story short, the drug was AMAZING. It killed the pain and it also gave me my own personal, monogrammed sunrise in the hospital ward. My friend who was with me at the time also told me that I couldn't stop talking, and I was telling her all sorts of personal stuff from the previous two weeks or so.

The truth can sometimes be very nice and cozy and soothing, especially if it comes in truth-drug format.
