As a percent of the world population, yes.
Doesn't seem at all like it will go to 0 though...
Additionally, it was growing as a percentage of the world population throughout most (all?) of the 20th century.

Ahem. Get back to discussing the wretched film adaptation of a mediocre book by a modest-intelligence atheist.

It did well for a normal film. But as a film with a blockbuster-sized budget, it flopped.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Given the hit squads that have been after it for months, I don't find that surprising.
My fiancee saw it this weekend, she and her friend both thought it was pretty good, but somewhat flawed. She's read the books and her friend hasn't, but they both came away with the same feelings on it. Outstanding cast and visuals, but the script had been massaged too much by too many people."In the beginning was the Word. Then came the ******* word processor." -Dan Simmons, Hyperion

Idunno about that. The protests against Dogma and other religiously edgy films just acted as free publicity, made people want to see them more. True, this is a kids' movie, but you'd think there would still be a number of pious adults who saw it just to see what the buzz was about, if it was really that bad, etc.
And Dogma made about $30 mil in its total US box office run.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Huh. For some reason I thought it did better than that.

Does it have Claire Danes and Michelle Pfeiffer in it? At this point, if its a big budget fantasy aimed at kids, it doesnt have the name "Harry Potter" in the title or Tolkien in the credits, and doesnt have anything in particular that makes a dad want to see it, I'm skipping it.
And yes, Ive managed to avoid the Narnia movies thus far."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. To become human, is what this individual person, has been created for.” Martin Buber
