So what. A "country" has a "birthday". Both concepts are meaningless.

Independence is good though. Not saying the rule of the self would be meaningless, in fact it is a defining character of any succesful nation, I mean self rule that is actually real, not some puppet crap. That's why Finland is maybe... 15 years old really and definitely not 90.

You know how we celebrate it? We watch the president's reception on TV. There, they shake hands with hundreds of people (elite) and we the citizen then get to watch as they dance, and perhaps we can score the dresses, who had best and who failed.

That is our celebration. That is - none.

It's a ****ing joke. Soon, some Finn will come here "uuh you're wrong, I like watching telly and I also like ... dongs". You know, so what? Your parents were probably the biggest commie enforces in this country and they were prolly teh reason why some young people killed themselves as they became persecuted in the 60s and 70s and maybe they were masturbating about hte idea of the black list. Sure everyone had them, but your parents were the commie side of it. So screw you and your social experiment.

You probably read Linkola and think there's an intelligent person who deserves to be respected, but he is nothing but a terrorist ideology having old *****. THat's your parents right there. Because they failed miserably is the reason we can afford television sets today, so you know, we're glad your parents are failures and cannot accomplish anything, not even a coup.

But I am not negative. I think we're going for a great future, not the immidiate 10 years but perhaps thje years 30 and onwards, I think we'll be very succesful. I have faith in the young folks, they're smart, they're going to be the decision makers then and I think they will be a lot smarter and better. We're just bashing them now because we bash young people and their culture because we don't understand it.

But in reality, they're pretty smart and they'll be a lot smarter than we are. So the future looks good. We just need to forget about this ruling generation once in for all, but they will be dropping dead soon anyway, because they're approaching that certain age so... inevitably reason will win once again.

JulianD, weren't you supposed to be sitting in front of the telly? Go, celebrate, watch hours of people shaking hands and think we had something to do with the high price of the land anyway.

I'm mostly bashing the idea of shaking hands for hours, the massive circle jerk that takes place, while the rest of us watch it. Ultimately we could do what we wanted, so it's not like we don't have choices, but I just think it's a shame.

I actually did go out for a walk. I have never watched to movie as whole, and haven't read original Tuntematon. I did read the uncensored Sotaromaani version though. Who is this "We" you're talking about?

NO you are doing it wrong! You are supposed to watch teh whole movie! The reception, that one you should be pointing at and be disgusted.

The movie is actually good and is about the high price of the land.

There are strict rules and you have to obey them or you just aren't a patriot or a good citizen. You are failing! Plus, don't try to marginalize this as a non-fact, as in that's not what the whole day is about. That's so VJ my butt shoots crap just thinking about the argument.

Whats the address and how much would be suitable amount to show correct appreciation? I did get more tax returns than i was supposed and haven't yet had time to spend those. Actually i'm waiting to be arrested for tax fraud, since tax office does not make mistakes so that extra €€ they did pay is certainly my fault and i should spend it quick.

I haven't cared much for the reception since they stopped playing The Blue Danube as the first song at the dance; I never felt so cheated by my nation than when I heard some other... OK, I've forgotten what song it was, but it wasn't The Blue Danube, and that's what's important to me!

We'll be bitter and hurt about distortion of facts in Evil, evil Finns thread forever. I'm sure we will be able to end existence of Norway way before 2500 AD if every Finn just does (get) their part of dismantling that "country".
