  • The Guerrilla Repairmen of Paris

Thanks to my GF for pointing me to this; I guess it's the sort of thing that only happens in France. Here in the US our counterculture hipsters just spray-paint overpasses and riot at globalization summits. They never think of doing stuff that might actually benefit people in some way.

In any other country, a monument such as the Panthéon would be maintained in a perfect state. But not in France. Here, if we hadn’t restored the clock, no one else would have bothered.

A little naive... he needs to get out of France.

        ...and riot at globalization summits.
Since when do Americans notice globalization summits???

You don't remember Seattle I guess. It was the whole reason there no longer are globalization summits held in the US.

The West Coast doesn't count, communists aren't really Americans

I was actually thinking Genoa, which made Seattle look like a kindagarten sandbox fight.

One would have thought they'd be grateful instead of trying to jail them.

                    More culture-morlock hijinx:

Police in Paris have discovered a fully equipped cinema-cum-restaurant in a large and previously uncharted cavern underneath the capital's chic 16th arrondissement.

I hope the link works. It's a long URL, and from the Guardian which I understand isn't always the most accurate news source, but it's pretty fun.

When the clock began working again, officials were horrified.
I'd be horrified too, at least if it was like, one of those clocks which stopped right when someone died.
