    Burning Car.

I was reading Le Monde this morning and I read this:
Comme en 2005, les émeutiers visent toujours des locaux publics et privés (la maison des jeunes et de la culture et l'office public HLM à Saint-Dizier, par exemple) et continuent de brûler des voitures (44 157 en 2006, contre 45 588 en 2005)
(Rioters are burning cars: 44 157 cars burned in 2006, and 45 588 in 2005)

I was wondering how many cars were burned in others countries (UK, Canada, USA)? Is there anyone who know?

45 000 cars seems to be a lot...

Probably done at the instigation of local lot lizards.

There haven't been many riots in the U.S. since 9-11.

2002 - Ohio State University post Michigan football game riot, November 2002, (Columbus, OH, USA)

2003 - Benton Harbor Riot, June 2003, (Benton Harbor, Michigan, USA)

2004 - VEISHEA riot, drunk Iowa State students riot, cancel 2005 VEISHEA (Ames, Iowa)

2005 - 2005 Toledo Riot, October 2005, (Toledo, Ohio, USA)

2006 - San Bernardino punk riot, March 4, San Bernardino, California

2007 - The Los Angeles May Day mêlée, May 1, (Los Angeles, California)

2007 - Pacific Beach riot, (San Diego, California)
I know there were no cars burned in the Los Angeles May Day mêlée. That was more of a police riot, where the cops overreacted and started beating up protesters and -- always a bad idea -- news media.

I thought bruler des voitures was some kind of ice cream you ate in your car.

I did too. Then I had to click the thread to see what was being asked of me.
