Good thing he's ethical. So long as he only violates the spirit of the new law.

There is nothing wrong with that, especially given his current circumstances.

        Nah, of course not.

Your legislators have passed a provision to stop this in the future but Lott's going to get in under the wire. I've said before that money has rotten your system to the core. This is just more evidence.

Unless he's lieing to everyone, Barbour included, (which I'll grant is a possibility because of him being a politician) he isn't going to officially resign until January.

Then they should have made it take effect immediatley if thats what they wanted. As it is, I am not going to fault anyone for gaming the system for retirement benefits. Its what the system promises, it is what is should deliver. You sure as hell wouldn't critisize a union memeber for doing the same.

Oohh. A union bash. Too bad I'm not a union guy.

I didn't accuse him of breaking the letter of the law, just the spirit.

Or a military member that's told of certain benefits that would always be there; or any other profession, union, military or other who had an agreement.

                  Source?

NBC News has learned that Trent Lott's in the midst of informing close allies that he plans to resign his senate seat before the end of the year. It's possible a formal announcement of his plans could take place as early as today.

Which I hope he does. He can get a lucrative job from big business to help game government for them, and in exchange, Barbour's appointment only gets 3 months of incumbency.

Hmm, I guess things have changed since I last chaecked. I thought given when Barbour was placing the election that Lott wasn't going to resign this calender year. Oh well, guess we'll find out.

Barbour is trying to break the law (at the very least, the spirit of the law) to give the GOP an advantage.

Okay then, you try to figure out a clever thread title that has the word "Lott" in it as well as a parting salutation.

It's funny because the first thing I said when I saw how quickly he'd be leaving is what type of gay sex scandel is Lott involved in now .

IIRC, it was re-organizational bankruptcy, not liquidation bankruptcy.
