Indeed, and Pratchett was originally my substitute for Adams' lack of output, and eventual death. Douggie's final resting place is in Highgate Cemetery, close to my home in Islington, where much of his earth-bound stuff is set.

PG Wodehouse was Adams' own inspiration, but he leans too heavily on farce unfortunately for my tastes.

I assume whenever you get invited to a party there,
you are on lookout for a strange two-headed guy who hangs out with a super inteligent female mathematican

Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"

Did we ever have a thread on what a balls-up was made of the HHG movie?

I was reading a piece recently about it which hit the nail on the head. They somehow managed to take out all the jokes and massacre the rythym of the dialogue - which was one of the greatest strengths of Adams' writing.

            .
We did. Personally, I don't think it's as awful as most people say. I even liked the Vulgons...well, as much as anyone could like Vulgons.

                Vogons, Zkribb.

                Oh feddled gruntbuggly,
                thy micturations are to thee
                as turgid gabbleblottings
                on a lurgid bee.

                Groop, I impore thee
                my footing turlingdromes
                and hooptiously thrangle me
                on furgid gabbleblottings

                for otherwise
                I shall rend thee
                in my burldecruncheons
                see if I don't!

BTW, I hope you're regularly checking the bulletin board in the basement of your city hall. Give us a head's up on any major construction notices, k?
